Hi my name is Sierra Holloway I am 5'2" my weight is 110. I am currently a Freshman at Lower Columbia College in Longview, WA. My position is a DS/Libero and played DS my Freshman year at Lower Columbia. I was able to work my way to a starting position for many of the games during our season. My team was a young team with quite a bit to learn but really feel like this next season we will be a force in our division as we learned a lot from our first season together. My goal this year is to work hard during the off-season to stay fit, gain muscle strength, and increase my foot work skills so that I can be the Libero my Sophomore year.
I have been playing volleyball since I was in 4th grade, I also started playing basketball and fastpitch the same year. From 7th-9th grade year, I was the starting setter and played all around. My Sophomore year I changed positions to DS/Libero and love the position. I am a leader both on the court and off the court, through my actions and team spirit. I have a competitive personality and I like to help my teammates if they are having problems during a game or practice.
In December of 2009, I was diagnosed with scoliosis. I made the decision to pull myself out of basketball and fastpitch so I could focus on getting healthy. During the 2010 club season, I supported my team by going to every practice and all the tournaments they had. In June of 2010, through hard work and determination, I was released to play sports again. Even though I was released to play all sports, I stuck with my decision to concentrate on volleyball.
In 2012, I made another big decision for my volleyball career and switched club teams. I made the decision to change because I felt the new club would give me the court time and coaching that I felt I needed to move my game forward. I was voted as a team captain for my new team due to my hard work, competitive nature, and my willingness to assist my teammates with anything they needed.
The past few year has been somewhat difficult for me with several devastating situations that have greatly affected my life, one very personal situation and then the death of my grandmother in 2013 - who was like a second mother to me, but because of volleyball I have pushed through these situations and I worked hard to get my grades and life back on track.
My dream is to continue college at a four year University to become a Sports Therapist and keep playing volleyball at the collegiate level. I would like to go to a school where I can showcase my volleyball talent and get my degree for sports medicine or physical therapy.
At this point I am open to all sizes of schools. I would like to stay on the West Coast but I am open to looking at Midwest and East Coast schools. My family would need financial assistance to make my dreams and goals become a reality.
