Soccer was the first team sport I played. Then basketball and finally I found volleyball. For years I have heard people refer to me a being good at whichever sport I was playing but the truth is that for me, it was just so much fun! I never really felt like I "fit in" until I started playing team sports. I have played on good teams and bad teams but every team has felt like a place I belong because of the friends I make and the lessons and skills I learn. If I could play every sport, I would certainly try, but volleyball is my passion.
I started playing volleyball in 4th grade on a rec team. I struggled to get my serve over but by working hard and denting up my parents' garage door, I mastered the serve and fell in love with the sport. I am fast and have a good vertical. I read the ball and court well. I have been fortunate to be able to play all the way around each of the last 4 years and have played every position on the court. My coaches call me an all around utility player. I play both indoor and beach volleyball.
Through USA Volleyball's High Performance training programs, I have had a chance to play with some of the top girls in the nation for my age group both indoor and beach. I enjoyed playing with girls who were so athletic and challenged me to be a better athlete. I played varsity as both a froshman and sophomore, named all-league both years. Though our team was not incredibly successful, I enjoyed the competition and added responsibilities of setting a 5-1. I feel I am handling the tougher classes offered in high school and the tougher competition in the gym. I am very coach-able and appreciate that each coach I have had, regardless of the sport, has taught me new skills.
I am a very hard worker... in the gym, at school and at home. My family is incredibly supportive of me and making them proud of the person I am is very important to me. Having the opportunity to play at the college level would be an honor. I feel that setting goals and aspiring to better myself in pursuit of those goals makes my time in the gym and the classroom even more valuable.
The chance to play in college would be incredible. I plan to work hard towards that goal. I plan to keep my GPA high and push myself both academically and athletically. After all, it's so much fun and I know it is where I belong. I am open to all options at this point and am excited about connecting with schools and coaches that could be a good match for me.
