Nicole Perekhodko '21 Recruiting Profile

     This year’s volleyball journey, is definitely one that cannot be forgotten. Though my team had a successful season overall, the goal of qualifying for Nationals was not accomplished. The bid was at the tips of our fingers, but we came out second, twice in a row. After the disappointment settled in, I learned an important lesson from my coach. It was not the skill that costed us the game, but our mentality and level of focus during it. Once I had realized this, everything started falling into place. Looking back, not getting a bid after being so close; opened up an opportunity for me to learn a crucial life lesson and pushed me to strive to be a better player, both physically and emotionally.

     My mother has acted as the most influential person in my life. Watching her battle through ghastly struggles, independently and vigorously, has only inspired me to work for a better life. My future goal is to become part of the medical industry, studying to work as an anesthesiologist or an orthopedic surgeon. Being captain of my school volleyball team, and leader of my Odyssey of the Mind school project group (which was chosen to move on into a regional competition), I undeniably understand the importance and qualifications of a great leader. My greatest accomplishment is in my scholars, where I am currently 1-4 years ahead in every one of my core classes. This exhibits my true determination and high work-ethic. To sum it up, playing college volleyball would be a great opportunity, and I will work diligently to meet the requests of any coach.
