Personal Statement

Blaze Recruiting Site: https://sportsrecruits.com/sydney_kroll

Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. Please provide one example of how you have demonstrated leadership in both areas.

Although still early in my career as a student, I have been part of the student council, a cheerleader for my Jr High and pride myself on being open and accepting to all. On my travel side I volunteered with my Blaze teammates at numerous events and love cheering for my sisters from either the field or the bench, whatever it takes to succeed is what I am willing to give.

Why do you want to be recruited to play sports in college?

First of all I love the game and it has been my goal since I first started playing the game at the select level. The leadership, being part of a team, learning to deal with adversity are just a few of the things that I love about the game. I also like the personal battles, struggles and growth that this game has and is teaching me; it simply makes me a better person. As for playing in college and the recruiting process, it will only make me stronger and test my resolve to be the best student/athlete I can be.

Please explain how you pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete.

Good health starts with good eating and dietary habits. Limiting the junk food in my diet is a huge part of my athletic regiment. Ensuring my time is devoted to study, training and sleep is a way of life and although currently I play multiple sports; once in college the demands will become even higher and even greater detail to nutritional habits will be crucial to my success. In addition, I work very hard in knowing my body, treatment and routines to keep myself it top condition. Even though playing through pain is the norm for an athlete; knowing pain versus injury is vital to staying on the field.

Please describe how you are involved in service in your community and why these efforts are important to you.

Volunteering and being visible to my community and those kids younger than me is the best way to impact the future. Giving time back is the greatest feeling in the world and as those that have come before me have impacted my life; I too what to be an impact to those that come after me. At school, we mentor younger grades, spend time reading and teaching the younger grades and work to include the younger kids into all of our programs and activities. I continue to stay involved in our local Little League and assist coaching the younger girls teams, assisting in the filed preparation and the running of our concession stands.
