Mia Terry '23 Recruiting Profile

Throughout my softball career I’ve learned a lot as a player and a person.  I’ve been in some tough situations that made me think about how hard I need to work to play the sport I love.

A moment I remember was a tournament when I was playing against girls who were older and bigger than me. As usual the other players underestimated me. It was pretty evident that I wasn’t the fastest pitcher, so I was determined to work on something that not many pitchers focused on at that age. Spin and location, these were and still are my secret weapons. I decided I needed to master something that made me the pitcher I am today. During the game my movement allowed me to strike out the batters and lead my team to victory.

This tournament was when I realized that speed doesn’t always win and that I was going to be the best at what I did. Of course, I still have a long road ahead of me, and on that path I know I’m going to grow because all the women in my family are above 6 feet tall and were late bloomers themselves. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me when I’m bigger, stronger, faster and a dominator. I know I have the work ethic, attitude, and overall personality to be a part of a team at the highest level.
