Personal Statement

I love the sport of swimming and have decided to use my love for the sport to help get myself a degree. I want a degree to be successful in life and not have to worry about my financial state. Part of that reason is why I joined NCSA, to help get scholarships or financial aid for the college I choose. The most important factor of course is to find a college where I can see myself, feel comfortable, and enjoy myself for years to come. I hope to obtain many of my goals for both high school, and club swimming, my sophomore year.  Those goals include dropping time in events where I have the chance to qualify for state in both my seasons. Specifically one event which is my fastest, the 100 backstroke. Other events that are important to me are the 100 butterfly, 50, and 100 freestyle. Those events are important to me because it's helps me be the best swimmer I can be. I consider myself a sprinter, more than a distance swimmer. My distance times are still important to me, for myself to become the best swimmer I can be. Although, I know that many swimmers are better at one than the other. I do hope however to improve my times in all events that I may swim this season, including distance. I have been swimming since I have been 8 years old. Their are different reasons why people join NCSA, but for me, it's a combination or scholarships, and finding the best college for me. I'm sure a lot of candidates that join NCSA take swimming very seriously. I however take swim seriously and like to have fun during practice, and be able to get to know my teammates and coach. I like to enjoy and have fun during practice, but when it's time to swim I understand that it's time to get serious and take whatever my coach puts in front of me seriously and swim fast. As I said in the beginning of my statement, I hope to use a sport that I love to get a degree that can put me through life. I take academics seriously, because I know that if you study and work hard for the years that I attend college, the hard work will pay off for the rest of my life not having to worry. I hope my personal statement can help you learn a little more about myself with my goals for swim and for life.
