Personal Statement

CONSISTENCY,  PREPARATION AND HARD WORK- I love to prepare and compete! I can proudly say “Ask anyone about me!”

I am a  proud American first with a German and Mexican heritage. I believe that competing and succeeding among the best puts me there, with my goal being to be the best version of myself that I can be- through the best preparation.  I believe that if prepared properly, the game and life comes much easier. "Mediocre" is not in my vocabulary and I am looking for a school that will constantly challenge me in and out of the classroom.

DREAMS are everything to me- a direct link to the human spirit.  When I was a younger kid, I dreamed of being in the Little League Worlds Series- check- I played live on ESPN in front of 16,000 and led my team to a 3rd place finish.  I then played the next summer in almost all 16u Tournaments as a 13u- compiled a 0.94 ERA in 74 1/3 Travelball Innings.  During that summer my team and I made it to the COLT (16u) World Series Finals in Lafayette, In.  While there, I faced mostly 17 year olds in my game pitched vs Aruba/Puerto Rico. I held my own for 4 innings as a 13u.

On June 3rd(on my Birthday), my High School became San Diego CIF D1 Open Division Champions, and we are currently ranked 3rd in the nation by USA Today and #1 in California.  I am proud and honored to have been called up to play Varsity as a Freshman by Coach Gallegos and Coach Grigsby at Eastlake High School- so honored. (.429 Batting AVG, .341ERA in 41 innings). I truly cannot wait for my sophomore season.

I realize as my life is unfolding, that I am a "Big Stage" guy.  I can handle it, and have over and over, and I love it.  My dream is without a doubt to play at the very highest MLB level one day, but I am also very realistic about this goal. My dad has told me forever, "to control what I can control, and not worry about the rest."  In choosing a University, I am looking to be challenged in the classroom, surrounded by diversity, and be in an environment where I am constantly reminded of all that I CAN do, not what I cannot.

As a teammate, as a friend, as a student of the game, as a student of life- I run clean and believe that the universe has a way of rewarding those signs of character.

One last thing: I am nothing, if not grateful.  My parents/family have supported me throughout my life.

I am so lucky to have been put in front of some of the best coaches around- Chuckie Fick, of late has really helped bring my pitching to another level through Scout Ball this past October.  My trainer, Coach Bazoo, My travel ball coaches, David Gonzalez and Coach Gallegos and Grigsby of Eastlake. I am as good as my support- fortunately, so far I have surrounded myself with people who believe deeply and commit to my growth as a human being and as a ballplayer.  I will not let them down.
