The sport of wrestling has influenced my academics, life morals, leadership qualities, and work ethic. I started wrestling in 8th grade because I had never done a sport. In the 4 years I have been wrestling, I've gone from being completely nonathletic, with terrible grades, to being one of the most respected and academically accomplished wrestlers in my community. I'm a perfect candidate for any wrestling program because I re-define the definition of hard work. I went from only winning 4 matches my freshman year (2 being JV-matches and 2 being forfeits), to being an All-State Champion my junior year, with a season record of 53-6.
I'm different from other wrestlers because I care about what message my team gives off to other people. By communicating with, and understanding every individual member on my high school team, I've given every wrestler a positive mind set in and out of the wrestling room. I was given a new coach my Junior year and we have been able to make great adjustments to the wrestling program at my school. When I graduate next year, my goal as a leader is to leave a positive and hard working group of wrestlers that will continue to build the program. I'm looking for a college that can offer an excellent education in medical science/engineering, and a team full of hard working wrestlers that I can happily call 'My Family'.
