Volleyball became my passion after playing for my middle school teams where sports and volleyball really became an even bigger part of my life. With the support of my family, friends, teammates and coaches I invested more time in training and skills with various local clubs and volleyball camps. I played both basketball and volleyball in high school while also playing club and taking Honors/AP courses. During my junior year I decided to keep focus on my academics and concentrate on volleyball to help prepare me for the possibility to play at the college level. I turned 16 years old in August and played some of my best volleyball yet during the high school season! Our varsity team repeated as District Champions, Bi-District Champions, and advanced to the 2nd round of the playoffs. Individually I received All-District Honors (2nd) as well as Academic All-District recognition. I was a top blocker in the district with 106 blocks in the season. I have grown to love the sport even more as I played at a more competitive level. I also learned that to compete at a high level requires dedicated focus, mental strength, as well as physical ability, skill, and fitness. I am more driven now than ever. I am eager to begin the club season, and continue my training & preparation in order to play at the college level.
I believe that with continued focus and dedication I will reach my goal of playing volleyball in college and contributing to the team’s success. I have an open mind and willing to look at any opportunities which will allow me to receive an education to support a career in Healthcare and play the sport I love.
I look forward to hearing from you,
Skyler Friel
