Lauren Strader '16 Recruiting Profile

I have been playing volleyball since I was 10 years old and have been playing competitively with clubs for over 7 years. I double lettered in volleyball by making the varsity team my freshman year in high school and then again as a junior after moving to Lake Jackson, TX the summer after my freshman year.  I am currently attending Brazoswood High School and will graduate in 2016.  I not only set but also hit right side for club and high school. I was named an alternate for one of the High Performance USA teams, and I was also 9th in Texas for the AVCA college prep combine.  

This season I am playing for Southwest Juniors Volleyball with Coach Keith Johnson.  My jersey is #11 and I am on the 18's team as a setter and right side hitter.  Last year, I played with the Katy Elite Volleyball Club on the 18's team as a setter and right side hitter.  My jersey number was 2.

As a setter it is important that I am a leader on and off the court. On the court when I set, I direct the hitters and set up the plays. I am also energetic in trying to keep the team pumped and ready to play. I am easily coachable and take direction very well. I would be a great addition to any team, because I a positive and well disciplined person. 

I am a honors student and have a high GPA. I take AP classes at Brazoswood High School and dual credit (college) classes at Brazosport College. I am a member of the Brazoswood High School chapter National Honors Society and mentor elementary school children through the high school PALS program. I am involved in my community and volunteer whenever I can. What makes me different from other recruits is that I can change the attitude of a room in minutes. I don't play the game of volleyball just to get into college, I play it because I love the game and enjoy being with the people that inspire me.
