Tayler Phillips '16 Recruiting Profile

Hi :) I've always been saying I wanted to go to college every since I was 7 years old, surprisingly. Most younger children were talking about the next game or the next doll coming out while I was talking about how much I loved math and animals. Being able to go to college is a really big step in my life. College will permantly find a common ground for my future and the achievements that will soon be in it. Just being in that kind of atmosphere where people care about their futures and actually want to make something of themselves is very inspiring and uplifting I grew up in the volleyball world. My parents both played co-Ed and was going out of town to tournaments with me since I was 1. My parents never really thought of taking it any further until I had gotten to high school. I made it on to the freshman team of Germantown High school and just fell in love with the sport more than I already was. I played outside my freshman year, then my 10th grade year I played middle for the first time on junior varsity. This past season I played varsity as middle and right side. In 10th grade, I started thinking about going to college and what I really wanted to be in life. I thought of a career I would enjoy and my mind went straight to animals. I began looking at degrees and became even more focused on my grades. This year, I been pushing myself like crazy just to keep my GPA a 3.5 and above and not slacking in my academics or my athletics. Once I get my mind set on something, I'm not going to stop til I achieve it. Volleyball is a sport that I love and will never stop playing for as long as I live. I love cheering on my team for ANYTHING. Nice set? I'll cheer for it. Nice hit? I'll cheer for it. Nice pass? I'll cheer for it. Nice dig? I'll cheer for it. I am the LOUDEST person on and off the court. If coach doesn't put me in a game, I don't pout or sit there looking miserable. I'm still there literally screaming my head off for my team because just being able to be there and see us do amazing is the best part of it. Being on a team just isn't being with a group of girls for just a few months of the season. Being with a team is being a family, a pact. We're there for eachother in everything and that's what volleyball taught me. Volleyball just isn't a sport. It's a way of life, commitment, meeting new friends, and being with the thing you love most...being able to play with FAMILY.
