Personal Statement
My name is Danielle. I am 6’0’’, 165lb, 18 year old Senior. I strive to become a high school math or science teacher in the future. I have been playing volleyball since 7th grade, and every year I have learned something new that makes me better at volleyball. Every year, I have also fallen more and more in love with the sport. Volleyball is my heart and soul. I love volleyball more than almost any other past time. Volleyball, playing and my team, is what I look forward to every day during school. It keeps me motivated to keep my grades as high as they can be (a bad grade means no playing time). My major athletic goal is to be able to continue volleyball for as long as possible.
I play middle hitter and middle blocker; however, I can play almost any position. This year, I will be playing middle hitter (front row) and setter (back row). Last year my team got 3rd place in European Championships and I was selected for All-Conference Team. I’m hoping that working hard this summer will pay off. I want to help my team back up to the top of competition for Championships and maybe I can make All-Conference or All-Tournament Team.
What can I offer your team? First, I love to learn. If I get taught something new or if I can’t seem to get something right I work on that one thing for as long as I need to get it right. I take pride in learning something new and then being able to show others that need to know. Second, I am a very good team player. I have always been a helpful, compassionate, and good person. I always help out my fellow players when they need anything from help in volleyball to school to a shoulder to cry on. I make friends easy because I love to be social and meet new people when I get the chance. I like my volleyball team to be like a family instead of 12 people that come together for a season. On the Vicenza team, we make this happen and I hope to take this mentality with me to other teams that I am lucky enough to be a part of in the future.
