Lauren Ward '17 Recruiting Profile

My name is Lauren Ward and I am from Atlanta, GA. I am a powerful, high-jumping, right-handed outside hitter (OS). 

I am a member of the A5 Volleyball Club and I also play on the varsity team at The Lovett School. I am 5'9" and 160 lbs with an approach jump of 9'9" and a 30-inch vertical. Volleyball is not just a hobby for me but it is also my passion. I've been playing since I was 12 years old. As a player, I am a hard worker and committed to bringing success to my teams. As a teammate, I have a positive attitude and I motivate the players around me. Volleyball has taught me many life lessons - how to be a great leader, how to be a high performer an effective player, and how to persevere through adversity.

At The Lovett School Team I have played on varsity since my sophomore year. For 2 consecutive years my team has been the State Championship runner-up in the 2AA class. My goal this year as a 3-year starter is to lead the team to the State Championships and to win!

Last year during club season I played on the A5-South 18-1 team and earned a starting spot. Playing up on an 18's team as a junior was a great experience and allowed me to learn a lot from older teammates. In both school and club volleyball, I have played at the highest levels. Playing in the State Championships for 2 years, club AAU nationals, and the USAV nationals has exposed me to an elite level of competition and prepared me for collegiate volleyball. 

Beyond volleyball, I am a well rounded person who is very passionate about school work and extra-curricular activities. Academically, I am a strong student with a 3.5 cumulative GPA at one of the top private schools in the Southeast. I also have a 1240 on the SAT which I hope to increase. At school, I am involved in many clubs and activities including TAP (Teen Against Prejudice), Green Team, Spectrum club, DIY club (Do it yourself), Cooking for a Cause, and the French club. I plan to attend a strong academic college and some day earn a Masters in Business or Psychology.

What excites me most about volleyball is the prospect of playing at the collegiate level.  I truly believe that the competition, teammates, coaches, and experiences will help me prepare for an extraordinary journey in life.
