Hi! My name is Grace Nelson. I am a 5’8 outside hitter who also plays all around. Although my size may fool people, I have been told I have “great ups” with my 35 inch vertical which allows me to get great kills against taller opponents.
My activities started with gymnastics and dance, and I also played soccer, softball and basketball. I enjoyed them all, but in 7th grade I found my love, Volleyball.
As a focused and competitive self-starter I put my heart into every game, utilizing an exceptional work ethic. It is important to me that I earn the respect of my coaches and teammates. On the court, I train hard and deliver consistently which allows me to stand out. My coaches and teammates know they can depend on me to give 100% every time. In high school I have earned several athletic awards, including Max Preps Player of the week, and Athlete of the Month and MVP at my high school, Cambridge Christian. I have been a starter and played all around in every game since my freshman year and it also has been an honor to be named MVP/All Star in every high school tournament I have played in for the past 2 years.
I am a 2016 graduate with a 4.5 GPA. I approach school as I do sports, and have earned several awards, including National Junior Honor Society, National Honor Society, and National Spanish Honor Society. I have also consistently earned Principal Honor Roll at my high school, Cambridge Christian.
I am grateful for my joyful disposition towards life and relationships. To me, the glass is half-full and that positive attitude helps me make the best of every situation, whether it’s on the court, in school, or in my personal life. The success I have been blessed with can be attributed to my loving and dedicated family. They encouraged me to look outward and see how I can benefit those around me. This has helped me develop leadership in the gym, in the classroom, and life in general.
I have played club volleyball for the past 4 years, and it has definitely pushed me to become a better player. But I am excited to see how much more successful I can be in collegiate sports. I know there is more in me and I look forward to taking my skills to the next level!
Thank you very much for taking the time to read my profile and consider me for a position on your team.
Sincerely,
Grace Nelson
