My collegiate goals are to attend a four year university and play volleyball for that university. I feel playing volleyball in college will enhance my overall college experience and will help me succeed in making my educational goals come true. I want to major in education and be able to get a teaching credential so after college I can become an International English teacher. This past high school varsity season I was awarded with the Coaches Award. My coaches said I was chosen for this award because I not only strive to make myself better in practice but I strive to make my teammates better too, which I feel says a lot about my character on the court. Being one of only three seniors on this past high school season meant we had a lot of young girls on the team. My coach made it very clear that we were the three that they would all look up to so it was very important to set a good example both on and off the court and in the classroom. I feel each of us lived up to that expectation and were wonderful leaders. Something my parents have engraved into me since I was little is that communication is key. I have found this very rewarding throughout my life. Unlike most people my age I have very good communication skills whether that be with adults, elders, or people my age. (Fortunately, this skill has carried over to the court.) Having also been awarded the "Pursuing Victory With Honor" award, I think this goes to show I don't only play volleyball to play the sport but to share my character with my teammates, coaching staff and school. With whatever school I end up playing for it is a goal for me to not only be a player but a teammate.
