Kandace Standridge '16 Recruiting Profile

I grew up playing softball, basketball, and track. I participated in middle school, but I have been seriously running track since freshman year, I decided then I wanted to run at a collegiate level. 

My life revolves around running. Everything I do and choose not to do betters my body, my mind, or my attitude towards the upcoming season. I believe my greatest quality is my strong work ethic and I am a firm believer in hard work during all parts of life. I am willing to do whatever it takes to reach beyond my goals. Champions were not made when athletes settled for anything less than their best because it was easy, champions are made when were surpass the limits of our own mind, and use the heart.

I am a lover/runner of middle distance. The 800m is my favorite race. It has something to do with the speed, endurance, and the guts it takes to give the 800m justice, and the bragging rights of the thunder thighs you get in return.

I am the 2014 4A 800m State Champion, runner up in the 3200 meter relay, and a third place finish in the 1600m relay. All three broke 20-30 year old school records.

My 800m PR is a 2:18, this year I am going to run low teens.
