Jessica Gidzinski '11 Recruiting Profile

Swimming has been a very important part of my life. I have been swimming since I was five years old. I started off with club swimming. I swam with Harleysville in the summers and Souderton in the winters. I loved it so much that it stuck with me and I continued to do it all through high school and would like to swim in college. On top of practicing with Lansdale Catholic during the season, I also practice with Germantown Academy. I have been successful in swimming in high school at Lansdale Catholic. My freshman year I made it to states in the 200 IM and 500 free and made the top sixteen in both of my events. I thought it was an honor just making it to states as a freshman but when i made it onto finals I was even happier. My sophomore year I did the same events and placed in the top sixteen again as well. My junior year I went to states in the 200 IM and 100 free and also made it in the top sixteen again. This same year I also broke two Catholic League records. I am a senior now and my goal is to get a medal in either the 100 free or 200 IM this year. Swimming has taught me many things. It has helped me to work better with people and be more supportive because of my teammates. I developed better leadership skills being captain my junior and senior year. I have good time management skills from balancing both school and swimming. I am looking for a school with a good engineering program because I want to major in chemical engineering and I want to go to a school that my family can afford because of my family's current income. I will be filling out FASFA forms when I am eligible to do so.
