Hello Coaches! My name is Emily Ondrizek and I just finished my junior year of high school and I am planning on going to college and am really excited to continue my swimming career in college. Right now I am 17 years old. I am 5 ft 4 inches tall and weigh about 120 lbs. I have been swimming competitively since I was nine years old. As the years have gone by I have fallen more and more in love with the sport.
I am extremely dedicated to the teams I am on now, my high school team and my club team. I am so dedicated that I spend anywhere between 19 and 22 hours in the pool per week. That doesn't even include the hours I do my dryland workouts. In a college swimming program I am looking for a coach and a team that is going to push me to my limits. I am prepared to work extremly hard because I want to be successful in the sport of swimming. I am already being pushed very hard and I am ready for more! I want to be the best that I can be. I am willing and ready to be pushed to perfection. I want to know how teams can benefit me but I also want to let you know how I can benefit a team. I see myself as a good leader. I have been voted team caption of my high school team my senior year, which is this coming winter season. People on my team view me as a good leader and that is why they voted me to be their captain next year. I also can bring a lot of encouragement to a team. I love watching everyone succeed and do well. To me having a friendly and encouraging team as a whole is crucial to my success as a college swimmer.
I already have some goals I would like to accomplish as a college swimmer. In college I want to be as successful as possible in the sport of swimming. Since I don't have any experience on a college team the goals are a little more general than specific. One goal I have is to push myself to be the best. That is something that I have always strived for. I think being surrounded by the most talented swimmers will push me and help me accomplish this. Another goal I have for my future in swimming is to make friends. I am very close with my high school and club team swimmers and I want that to continue into college.
When it comes to accomplishments I do have a few. I was on the All Times Swim Team in 2010 and 2011, my sophomore and junior years. I was also voted MVP by my high school swim team for the 2010-11 season. Another exciting accomplishment for me was making it to the PIAA district championships my freshman, sophomore, and junior years and being able to compete in individual events there. For team accomplishments, our high school team won their division two years in a row, 2008-09 season and 2009-10 season. It was really exciting to be on a division winning team my freshman year.
I am not going to college just for swimming though. I want to find a good academic program also. I am not 100% sure but am thinking about majoring in Education or Math because I want to be a math teacher. When it comes to locations of a school I am very open. Obviously I would prefer a warmer climate school but it is not a major concern for me. I've grown up in Pennsylvania my whole life so I am pretty used to the cold weather. I am looking for a medium to big school perferably Division I or II but I will not count out Division III schools depending on the program.
Well that is a little bit of information about me. I hope you understand what I am looking for a little bit better now. If you have any questions feel free to contact me at [email protected]. I hope to hear from you very soon!
