Over the past few years I have had to overcome obstacles in order to play the game that I love and get the grades I know I deserve. My work ethic and determination in overcoming these obstacles, in addition to my strong leadership abilities, are why I would be an excellent student athlete.
I started playing soccer when I was about 4 years old but a few years ago I began growing too fast for my body to keep up so I had to take a break from soccer to rehabilitate myself. During those two years I got an in depth look at physical therapy and how much it can help get athletes back to their sports. This made me realize that I may enjoy studying physical therapy in college. My time away from soccer also cemented the fact that soccer was much more than just a pastime for me, it was a necessity for my happiness and well being.
During this same time I began to have difficulty in school. My grades no longer reflected my knowledge even though I worked non stop on my schoolwork. After doing lots of research and getting support from my physician and family, the summer before my Junior year I started taking ADD medication. It made all the difference. After struggling to maintain a 3.25 GPA for my first two years of high school, I easily brought my grades up to earn a 3.85 both semesters of my junior year while taking Algebra, AP Psychology, and Physics.
I am now a better athlete, student, and leader for having to persevere through these challenges and I plan to take these lessons on to college and the rest of my life.NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the exclusive athletic recruiting network that educates, assists, and connects, families, coaches and companies so they can save time and money, get ahead and give back.
