Hannah Smith '12 Recruiting Profile

My name is Hannah Smith and I am a junior at The Woodlands High School in The Woodlands, Texas. I am 16 years old and was born in Malaysia, I am Malaysian-Indian, but I have been a citizen of the USA since I was one year old. I have lived in Malaysia, Russia, Norway, and now in the USA. I began playing soccer when I came to the USA in 2007 and I really love the game. I am 5 feet tall and weigh 110 pounds. I have worked nearly year round each year to improve my soccer skills and to build on my God given speed. I love to lead the break from my forward or mid-field position and to challenge the box for a shot or a cross to one of my team mates. I am lucky to have excellent stamina and speed and by working on them for the past 4 years they have improved. This past summer has been great with a month of IMG training with one week regional ODP training. I believe in pushing myself and my team mates, and leading by example on the field and off the field . I believe that my finishing skills are getting better, I had 10 goals last spring for my JV team and was named their top offensive player. I hope to contribute to my schools varsity team this year when we repeat as the state 5A champions. I think I would be more comfortable with a smaller college campus instead of one that is larger than some of the places I have lived in before. I have really heard some nice things about the east coast schools especially in North Carolina, Tennessee, South Carolina,Virginia, and Florida. I am also very interested in colleges in my home state of Texas, New Mexico and Oklahoma. I have always been interested in exercise and how it affects our bodies. When I was younger I was pretty small but quick and I am told I was always running, roller-blading, boarding, or downhill skiing in the winter. I think this is why sports or exercise science are the most interesting things I would like to study. Putting this to use in developing programs to help athletes prevent sports injuries would be real good. My goal is to be a good student athlete. I want to be a good student who enjoys playing soccer for her school. I want to play for a team that respects each other and that the school respects too.
