Hi, my name is Edye Carr and I have been playing goalie for soccer for as long as I can remember. I am very vocal on the field, have a strong leg, don’t take any plays off, and have always been open to constructive criticism. Soccer encompasses the majority of my life and I would love for that to continue through college. Playing soccer brings me so much joy and I have such a deep, passionate love for the game. The same can be said when it comes to my position on the field as goalie. As a lover of the game and as a very competitive person, I never enjoy losing, but I do learn from it. The past two years I have carried my high school varsity team to the fourth round of the playoffs, and for the past two years the fourth round is where our journey as a team ended. I feel that even though those games were the end of the team’s journey, I know that the fourth round loss of my sophomore year was the start of my own. I played without-a-doubt the best game of my life against Carrborro, the team who won the title the year before, that year, and the year after. I realized that just because you work hard doesn’t mean you will get what you’re working towards, and that it’s good to fall down so you can get up and improve yourself. I believe the best description of me would be from one of my past club coaches, Ken Yang. He always said that I was extremely stupid and smart at the same time, meaning I am “stupid” enough to not be afraid of getting hurt going into tackles and making crazy saves, but “smart” enough to know how to play well and keep the team playing as a unit. One of my greatest accomplishments was being selected to play on the 2017 East Girls Team for the Powerade State Games and winning first place in that tournament. Though I love playing soccer, I also am very focused on my schooling. I know that soccer does not last forever and that a well rounded education is very important to furthering my success in life. I am very interested in marketing/business and my interest has not varied since my freshman year. I know that after college I would like to pursue a career in the marketing/business field and I am very driven to accomplish this goal.
