From swim lessons, before age one, through gymnastics, ice hockey, basketball, volleyball, softball, and soccer, I loved sports. Now at age 17, I still love sports! I want to spread my passion for sports by becoming a physical education teacher. During P.E. classes I see students, mostly girls, sitting on the sidelines, not participating. While I would not consider myself a full jock, as I now only play high school/club soccer year-round, I also love to be a girl. I understand most girls sit out during their P.E. classes, with the number one reason being "the infamous boys," embarrassing them. I know I could teach them how to interact with others in difficult and/or uncomfortable situations; vital life skills. Unlike the texting world we live in, P.E. class requires teamwork and group communications. I want to help students live both physically and mentally well without the teenage pressure so prevalent in today's society. We as the human race are always going to have challenges and difficulties. Even as we speak, I am one year out of an ACL surgery. While not being able to play soccer for the last part of the 2012 fall season and the 2013 high school season, I still gave back to my community by volunteering to coach three girls' soccer teams, helping my club with practices of all ages and gender, as well as helping my high school varsity coach during this season.
