Marina Garcia '17 Recruiting Profile

I am a Junior at Atascadero High School in Atascadero, California. I began playing soccer when I was in eighth grade as Goalkeeper and during that first season I was scouted and invited to play with a club team in San Luis Obispo, CA. Before playing soccer I was a competitive gymnast for 6 years, played basketball, softball, and 2 years of  tackle football ( I was a starting lineman and backup quarterback and one of two girls in my league).

As a freshman, I was a starter on JV playing right back and moved to varsity as a Sophomore. I was also a starter for JV softball both years as second baseman and backup pitcher, but played anywhere they needed me for injury or absence.  As a freshman, I moved to Legacy United Soccer Club, playing with them for two years now as starting Centerback. I play every game, the entire game, I take all free and goal kicks, and I crash on every corner kick. My club team moved up a level after my first season, after our undeafeted season. We hope the same for this season.  This year,  the new varsity coach, who is my club coach, has told me that I will be starting Centerback.

I am looking for any college that will allow me the opportunity to continue playing soccer and get my college education.

I am vocal on the field, I am the first one on the field and the last one to leave, I support and encourage teammates, I am committed and dedicated athletically and academically, I am a strong player, I never give up on my team or on the field, and would bring these characteristics to any team I am part of.
