Megan Hendrick '17 Recruiting Profile

My father once told me that I should impress a man with the things I want him to love me for. At the time, he was saying that I obviously wouldn't want a man to love me for the way I look because beauty is fleeting. But the more I thought about what he said, the more I realized how that applied to every aspect of life. I have chosen to impress you, as a coach, with my character and hard work, my capabilities as a player, my "coachable" mindset, my education, and my dedication to you, my teammates, and my school. My character is defined by my faith in Jesus Christ. I have had the opportunity to use my passion for the sport of soccer to play against and inspire kids in Africa, Australia, and New Zealand through mission trips with my church. My hard work is displayed through my drive to be the first one on and the last one off the field. As a defender, I have the right instincts to do my job, and I am excellent at getting in people's way. Even though I am confident that I am a good player, I also know that I always have room to grow, things to learn, and strategies to develop that you can teach me, and I am willing to listen and do whatever it takes to become the best player that I can be. I also understand that soccer is not always going to be there for me, therefore my education is extremely important and I don't take it lightly. I strive for the grades, the technique, and the education I need to have a career someday when soccer is finished. Lastly, my dedication to you, to the team, and to the school will always be there. I know that by putting my school's name on my chest, I represent something that is bigger than myself. I hope that you will give me the opportunity to represent your school. I am confident in who I am as a player and as a person, and I want to assure you that you should be confident in me, too.
