As a sophomore in high school I was anticipating my greatest basketball season. Shortly after it began I broke my ankle and spent most of the season in a boot on the bench, cheering on my team. After that 2014-15 season I knew I had to get back into shape for AAU ball. A coach approached me to play lacrosse to help me get back into shape and work on my footwork. The rest is history. I may not have the experience on the field that most have, but I have been working on speed, footwork, plays and defense for years in basketball. Lacrosse offered me more freedom to use my speed. I would be an unconventional recruit, but hard work outside of practice, constantly in a state of growing in both games, lacrosse and basketball gives me an edge. Motivating teammates to give there all and get a win, I have learned from some of the best. I have never backed down even if the opponent is bigger, better, stronger. I learn from them as well.
My college goals and aspirations are simple on paper, to get a business degree and work for myself (eventually). That's the easy part. The hardest part is doing the work to earn a degree and balance sports at the same time. My parents always say, "student first, athlete second". I look forward to competing with the best, against the best and learning from the best. Wherever that may be. Being a college athlete on any level is a privilege and great accomplishment. More importantly, so is getting a degree and furthering my education.
What makes me different for your team? I give 100% all the time, as I have gotten older my mental toughness has gotten stronger as well as my physical self. I don't talk trash but I know I am playing an opponent hard enough when they start talking trash to me. It's something my sister and I laugh about off the field. (she plays both sports as well). A coach doesn't have to worry about me yelling back at them. Defense, Leadership, Respect and hard work are the biggest attributes to add to a collegiate team.
