Melanie McClellan '12 Recruiting Profile

I am a Junior at Verona High School playing on the Verona Varsity Team during the regular lacrosse season. I will be playing for Verona's Winter league and am considering playing for Jersey Thunder 2012 Travel Winter League as well. I played with Jersey Thunder in a tournament in Downingtown, PA last month. They asked me last minute to fill in for their goalie. I had never met or played with them. They asked me to play on their winter, spring and summer team. In the summer, I play for the Morris Storm 2012 Travel Team. I played with them this past November in the Fall Face Off in Flemington, NJ. Morris Storm has spoken to me about arranging for a Goalie Coach to work one-on-one with me to further intensify my skills. Here are some of the tournaments I will be playing with Morris Storm this summer. 1. Champions Cup - June 10-12th 2. National Draw - June 25-26 3. Lax for the Cure - July 9-10 4. All Star Express July 16-17 I started playing lacrosse in 4th grade. This spring I will be playing my seventh season in goal. I have participated in lacrosse camps since 2005 which include "On the Ball Lacrosse" and "Steps Lacrosse Camp". After taking part in the Steps Lacrosse Camp and the winter clinic for 2 years, I was asked to try out for their travel team. I played with Steps Lacrosse 2012 Travel Team for 3 years before playing with Morris Storm. More recently, I participated in Sean Quirk's Peak Performance Goalie School in Springfield, Massachusetts and Bill Pilate's Goalie Camp in Roanoke, Virginia. These helped me focus on my form and further improve my technique. I plan on entering a career as a High School math teacher. I want to not only in major in math, but minor in physical education. I would like to have to ability to coach lacrosse at the high school I teach math at.
