Personal Statement

As a participant at The First Tee of Houston at F.M. Law Park I have learned the nine core values. My favorite one is perseverance. I have always been a hard worker and this shows not only from my academics but displays itself in my golf game. I have only been playing golf for two years and I am proud to say that my hard work is paying off. In June of 2012 I played in my first tournament and managed to shoot a 113. After only three months of hard work I played in my first high school tournament and shot an 83. I broke 80 at our district tournament in April of 2013 and with that we made it to Regionals. My lowest tournament round so far is a 74. Golf has been my passion ever since I started playing and I am going to keep working on my game and keep lowering my scoring average. I am not only a hard worker on the course but off the course I have excelled to get an A/B Honor Roll in 2012-2013 and I have also received the Academic Excellence Award awarded by Fort Bend ISD. I am currently taking classes in Pre-Cal Pre-Ap and Physics 1, English 3, and U.S. History in the AP level in William B. Travis High School. I am planning to continue taking the route of all honors and AP classes. I will continue working hard to improve my GPA and to get a very high score on my SAT. Education is very important to me but so is giving back to my community. I am the President of the Junior Advisory Committee at The First Tee. I have organized many fundraisers which in turn were fun golf tournaments for the participants. Last year I organized a toy drive for the Texas Children’s Hospital. I am very thankful for what I have and that is why giving to those who are less fortunate is very important to me. I believe my future is very bright. I plan to lower my scoring average to the mid 70s by the beginning of the next school year. I would love to play in any Division I will qualify for as I keep improving. As a first born American in my family I am so thankful for the great opportunities this country presents. As I go through this amazing journey I am going to make my parents proud but I also hope to make a greater impact on the country I am so proud to call home. Thank you for taking the time to view my profile and I hope to fulfill my dream and play for your school.
