My name is Grace Olmstead and I am a senior at West Johnston High School in Benson, North Carolina. I have played golf since the end of my eighth grade year and have played all throughout high school. I am entering my senior season with a nine hole average of 39 and an eighteen hole average of 89. I decided to commit myself to the game of golf my sophomore year of high school. I have spent many hours practicing and playing in youth tournaments. I have played in the Tarheel Youth Golf Association along with the Peggy Kirk Bell Golf Tour since the summer of 2015.
I am very active in school activities aside from golf. I take many honors and AP courses at West Johnston High School. I am a part of National Honors Society, FFA (Future Farmers of America), and I have also been President of FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) for the past two years. I also take part in Sports Medicine at my high school and work alongside our Athletic Trainer.
I volunteer with a youth golf organization called iGrow Golf. iGrow teaches youth the skills and etiquette that go along with the game of golf. I have volunteered with this organization for two years totaling in over 50 hours of practice time with kids ages 7-12. I enjoy working with this group along with being a part of the 13-18 year old class. I work well with people of all ages and love being around teammates and other competitors.
Playing college golf has been a dream of mine for many years and I would love to make that dream a reality. I would love furthering my golf career while also studying Exercise Sciences and Physical Therapy.
