Golf has always been a part of my life. I started playing at the age of five, and I have always loved the game. While playing golf as a child was a fun way to spend time with my family, it has grown into a sport in which I have excelled. Because I have been successful on the golf course, I see the sport as a means of being successful in college and life. By earning a scholarship to play college golf, I could continue to play a sport that I love while earning a college degree.
When I look at colleges the first thing I look for is a college with the right degree and a wonderful golf program. I hope that when I play golf in college I will have a reliable team and coach. I plan on doing my best at everything I do and working my hardest to become even better at the things that I love. I am a very competitive and hard working person, and I love getting advice, so I know what I can work on. I have worked with a private coach for four years, and no matter how many lessons I have with him, I am always learning ways to improve my game. I know this will continue as I work with my college coach and teammates.
I've always wondered what I was going to do with my life and I eventually knew I wanted to go into the medical field, and this year I realized that becoming an athletic trainer was the perfect job for me. I will fulfill my dreams of working with and helping other people, being surrounded by the sports I love, and being in the medical field. I have always been an athletic person, starting with gymnastics in elementary school to softball and basketball in junior high and of course, golf. With this being said, I plan on graduating from college with a bachelors degree in Athletic Training and going on to get the job of my dreams.
I have always loved helping people and being myself. As a member of my church council and the leader of missions at my church, I find that it is my job to help as much as possible in my community. I have done many fundraisers to help my community. I have sold t-shirts, fasted, put on a bake sale, held a breakfast, and many other things to not only raise money for our church but to help improve my community. In my school I find myself helping anyone who needs it at anytime. As part of student council, I tutored other students after school and I have helped both the wrestling team and track team by keeping stats for the coaches. I am an honors student, earning primarily A's and B's. In addition to student council, I have been involved in Latin Club and Art Club. I plan to continue to be active in campus and community life in college.
While I have had success on the golf course and I have set goals for the future, I still have plenty to improve and always will because golf is not a game you can beat. Everyone has that one thing that holds them back the most, and for me that is my mental game. As a freshman, I had trouble letting go of my bad shots and focusing on the next shot. This part of my mental game has gotten a lot better but I still sometimes lack confidence in every shot. I think the most important part of the game is the short game. This part of my game has improved greatly through work with my private coach. My strength is definitely my driver, it always has been. Even in junior golf, I could out drive the boys, and that strength has made me a competitive golfer in high school. At my school we do not have a girls team so I have always play on the boys team and play from the men's tees. Some of my averages may not look good for a girl but you have to remember that my averages are played from the men's tees. I believe that I have improved greatly from my freshman to junior year with my average going from 53 to 40 for nine hole matches. While I play the regular season against boys, I play against girls in our conference tournament and state series. I won our conference tournament both my freshman and sophomore years and placed second my junior year. I have qualified for sectionals all three years of high school and I tied for low medalist at our regional my junior year. I was very disappointed when I missed qualifying for state by two strokes my junior year. Qualifying and successfully competing in the state tournament is my goal for my senior year.
I am going to be a senior and I've always known I wanted to play golf in college. I just didn't know where to start. Now that I have started my journey with the NCSA I am hoping that my dream of being a college golfer will come true. I am so glad that I have found this website and I hope that I meet the requirements for your school and team and look forward to being in touch with you. So I would just like to thank you for the opportunity to be a part of your golf team, and I hope to be a great addition to your school as well.
