I started playing basketball when I was five years old in Durham, NC. I learned at an early age that I loved playing basketball. The coaches always commented that I was a good listener and I was always where I was supposed to be on the court. As the years progressed, I began to learn more about the game and as I began to play more I became more skilled. As a middle school student, I played as a varsity starter my 7th and 8th grade years earning All-Conference both years. I knew I was a strong player when other coaches and referees would talk to me after games to tell me how impressed they were with by rebounding ability.
I have been working hard during my freshman and sophomore season in order to improve my game. I have decided to focus on basketball so that I may have a chance to play in college. I have attended camps and plan to attend more this summer as well as try out for an AAU team. I have also been working one on one with a previous player from my school who played my position. It is my goal to play basketball for a small college post graduation. I plan to major in education with an emphasis on special education. In order to achieve this goal I will continue to work hard in order to improve my game. I am very outgoing and multitalented. I love working with children and have helped my mom coach grade school aged children in basketball as well as volunteered at her school in the preschool classroom. I am goal oriented and driven. I am excited about pursuing my basketball goals. I am always eager to learn and improve and I am a good listener. When I am shown new plays or new techniques I quickly catch on. I am also good at taking constructive criticism and using it a learning experience. My commitment to my academics is apparent as my grades show, and I take challenges by enrolling in honors courses at my school. I look forward to talking with coaches and beginning the process of recruitment.
I am a varsity starter and lead my team in rebounds averaging 12 rebounds per game. This year I was also leading scorer with an average of 15 points per game. My strength while playing is my ability to rebound and take the ball to the basket strong underneath. This year I earned first team all conference honors as well being selected as Captain of Third Team All-State.
During my junior season, my teammates and I determined our goal was to make it to the state tournament. Along with my teammates, I played basketball all year going each weekend to St. Albans to play against other teams in the state. I set a personal goal to condition and become a better player in order to help my team. After taking 2nd place in the sectional championship, we became the regional champions and had the opportunity to play in the WV State Girls' Basketball tournament this year. I continue to work hard and improve my game as I embark on my senior year next year.
