Courtney Jackson '11 Recruiting Profile

I am Courtney Jackson. A seventeen year-old senior at Baldwin Senior High School. I have played many sports growing up, but LOVE playing basketball! I am the 2010-11 team captain, a 2-year starter; and can boast a 3.2 unweighted GPA, 1900 combined SAT scores, a 600 or better on two SAT IIs, and a long list of community service activities. On the court, as a 5'7", 120 pound player, the high point of my career thus far was being the starting 2-guard on the Baldwin High School 2009-10 Nassau County championship basketball team and receiving All-County recognition. My coach, Tom Catapano, has identified me as a leader on the team. He has described me, in his opinion, as the best defensive player on Long Island. I have a strong work ethic and push myself as hard as possible, for example, I will never be the last to finish a suicide. I am a student of the game and often spend time at home watching videos of my games and analyzing ways to improve my skills. I spend weekends training at Jerry Powell's Basketball Results to sharpen my skill during the spring and summer. I play basketball year-round in league's with my high school team and in AAU with the Long Island Extreme. I am a great student and open to attending different types of schools. As a native Long Islander, I appreciate places like New York City and Boston because there are so many things to do. I also recognize schools in college towns have many things to offer students too. Ideally, I would like to be near a major city, but could be just as happy in an active college town. My desired major is Business, with a focus on Marketing Management or Entrepreneurship. I would like to open my own business one day. This time in my life is very exciting. I am sure that the combination of my strong academic record, and basketball skill will result in a phenomenal opportunity at the college level.
