My name is Alyssa Peck, I am currently a Senior at New Oxford High School. One of my top goals is to go to a four year college and play collegiate level softball. While playing collegiate softball I would want to major in either biology or biochemistry in order to work my way to becoming an anesthesiologist.
I have been playing softball since I was 10 years old. I started off playing in my local recreational team the New Oxford Flames. Three years ago when I was only 14 I was asked to play for our 18 u team as a starter and have played as one of their starting pitchers ever since. Along with playing for a recreational team I also have played for my high school team. I have been on my team's Junior Varsity team as a starter my Freshmen and Sophomore year and played every inning of every game. During my Sophomore year I played 2 games for the Varsity team because their pitcher was hurt and I did fairly well.
Last summer (2013), I started to look for a Travel team because I always wanted to play for a travel team but, my family has not had the money for it. I did find the North Carroll Hotshots which had tryouts August of 2013. My mom had called them to see when the tryouts were and the next day they had asked me to help them finish off their summer season. That summer I got my first taste of travel ball and I LOVED it. I played in 2 tournaments with them, the USSSA Eastern World Series and one more tournament
In 2014 I I pitched a lot of innings as I pitched for 5 different teams throughout the year. In the Spring for my High School Varsity team the senior starter was injured after just a few games and I became the starter. I even kept the job when she returned to full health. During the summer I pitched for 2 different New Oxford Flames rec ball teams (same organization) each of which made the playoffs. I also pitched for a tournament team (Hot Shots). During one of the rec games the opposing pitcher was injured, after the game I was invited to play for his travel 18 u C level USSSA team. I now am a member of the Zip Its Softball organization only. On October 21 2014 the Zip Its were ranked #1 USSSA 18 C level team in the nation.
On one summer weekend I pitched in 2 different tournaments for 2 different teams in 2 different states (MD and PA). On Saturday I pitched 1 7 inning game. On Sunday I pitched for hot shots at 8am and 1030am in Maryland, then pitched for Zip its at 130pm in Pennsylvania. We won all three games and gave up only 3 runs all day.
I am very excited about the upcoming softball season
I know that playing on a collegiate level will take a lot for determination and lots of hard work and I am ready to give it my all to do something that I love to do. I practice all year round pitching and hitting. I currently have 3 pitches, A fastball, changup, curve and screwball. I can hit any spot given to me when I am pitching and I've worked very hard to get that the point. I don't give out many free bases as I am very accurate. I love pitching and I have worked very hard and continue to work hard to improve everyday. I may not have the fastest fastball but I work very hard at being a better pitcher. I have been told by numerous coaches that I surprise them. I'm just asking for a chance.
