Personal Statement

My name is MacKenzie "Mack" Bucki, and I am a 14-year-old freshman at Airport Senior High School. Currently, I play softball for both my school and South Rockwood 14u. My strongest positions are catcher, 3rd, and shortstop, but I am flexible with other options. Even though I also run cross county, play basketball, and shoot skeet, I am also a diligent student. With a 4.5 GPA, 13 high school credits under my belt- including an AP and Advanced class I took in 8th grade- and numerous academic awards, I will be comfortable in any academic setting. Besides that, I volunteer weekly at a local library and love helping around my community. My future goals, in short, are to pursue a doctoral degree and play on a devoted collegiate softball team.

I go twice a week to my school's workout area and spend 2 hours on weights and cardio exercises.
Speed and Endurance

I have ran (competitive) cross country since 7th grade, and plan to continue it through high school. We run LOTS of miles and work on speed often. In the off-season, I run regularly and compete in a few 5Ks. Training in XC has definitely made me faster, which is key for good base-running.
Indoor Offseason Training

In the winter, I go to my school's high school coach every Sunday to train. We work inside with batting, throwing, catching, and running. She and her assistants have helped correct some of my bad habits.
