Personal Statement

As I sat in my stroller watching my older sister play softball, cheer, play basketball and performgymnastics, I felt that I would love to do all of the activities in which my older sister wasengaged in. However, at the age of three, is when I realized I wanted to play softball. That reddirt beautifully packed on the field, those bat sounds that turned everybodr/s head, thosebright yellow balls that whistled through my ears, were all a wakeup callfor my life. As theyears passed, I engaged in softball activities regularly. My desire is to continue my softballcareer in college while furthering my education. Softball has taught me many things, but mostimportantly, ssftball has led rne to believe that challenges are what nrake life interesting, hutovercoming thern is what rnakes life meaningful. The past three years of my llfe have been challenging. My grades were the most affectedaspects of nty life because of rny laziness and lack of rnotivation. As I ref]ected on the tirne I wassitting in my stroller watching my sister play softball, I remembered that I had a dream topursue. That moment is when I decided to change. I have worked untiringly on becoming a newperson. While being CPR certified, earning 2 credits from Mason University, volunteering andearning over 1,000 community service hours, becoming the historian of HOSA at my high school, attending three leadership camps,{At Clayton States Ameri Corps, Emory University's NationalYouth Leadership Program and Clayton Countr/s Teen Program), I have been putting more timeand effort toward my schoolwork. I have been getting verbal help from my family and visualhelp from my tutors and teachers. My renewed efforts have been a true journey, which has provided great life lessons. I havelearned that in order to accomplish a goal I have to work and have great aspirations, not foranyone else, but for myself. I honestly thought that I wouldn't be able to handle challengingcircumstances, due to the irnmature decisions I made in the past, but I found strength anddetermination not allowing me to give up.On the contrary, I will be pursuing softballwhile furthering my education with a major ofsports rnedicine. Most importantly, these past three years have rnade rne realize thatsornetimes failing is necessary in order to achieve positi\re results in nnany aspects of life. Mynarne is Terria Patrick , I am 17 years old , with the graduation year of 20L5. "Weather I missthe curve ball or pop up the rise ball lwill run, I \fflll endure and I WILL achieve.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
