Football was the introduction to the realm of athletics. I started playing football in third grade and quickly was put into the position of running back. I always enjoyed being a running back and learned to enjoy the sprints at the end of every practice. That is when I started to realize that I actually enjoyed running. When I started to play lacrosse running became more frequent in the practices. That is when I truly discovered I loved to run.
Ironically the best thing that happened to me was dislocating my hip in football my eighth grade year ending my football career. I was distraught at the time, but six months later my friend told me about cross country. I went out to the first preseason practice, and I was in love. I continued to participate in lacrosse and also picked up wrestling. During my junior year I started running track along with lacrosse. After training for my fist track meet for only a week I ran a 5:10 in my first one mile race. For my senior year I have continued cross country and wrestling but will focus on track in the spring. My goals this season are to get down to a 4:30 mile, run a 9:40 two-mile, and also a sub 2:00 800m.
Along with my athletic mindset I am very academically oriented. I strive to take the hardest classes available. I work to do my best in all my classes and maintain an A/B average—including my AP classes. My main scholastic interests are in the sciences and mathematics. Through my love of math and science I found my way to computer engineering. Last year when I was about to enroll into Physics with calculous I learned about engineering practicum, an all-including engineering class. This got me very excited and I quickly enrolled. This class confirmed my love for engineering and made me determined pursue this in college.
