How I am involved in service in my community and why these efforts are important to me:
I am involved in community service through mentoring, feeding the homeless, donating clothing, school supplies and assisting elderly neighbors with household chores. These efforts are important to me because I am giving back and the more we give back, the more that we are able to realize our own growth personally. Being engaged and involved with others helps me because it's during this time that we are humble, many people begin to share their experiences, stories and personal life journey with me. I have learned alot by assisting others and I'm able to use their experiences to grow, personally.
Athletes are often leaders on and off the field. One example of how I have demonstrated leadership in both areas:
A time that I've demonstrated leadership on and off the field is with my friends. We help each other in practice and when one of us struggles in an area, we all organize a time, where we go through plays again. We also ensure that each other keeps their grades up.
How I pursue "healthy athletic performance" as a student-athlete:
Healthy athletic performance to me means eating right, exercising not just for game day but being conscious and aware of my overall health-mentally and physically. I read so that I am educating myself mentally, I watch what I eat and I workout daily. This is important to me because I believe in the whole-person.
