I have always loved to race. Cross Country gave me the opportunity to race. During 5th grade I started Cross and I immediately knew, I wanted to be the best. Starting my 6th grade summer I began to run part time with Riley High School in the summers to better myself in running. I worked very hard during my freshman summer. I made sure I never missed a practice and to this day I still have not missed a single one. During my freshman year I knew there were only two freshmen in the whole conference in front of me. I worked all year until I beat one of them and then sophomore year I passed both of them. I used to play baseball in the spring but during swim season decided I wanted to do track so I could better all of my running times. This past year our Cross Country team went to Semi-State and this year we made it down to Terre Haute as a team for the State Finals and were able to place 21st overall. I like to believe we are the hardest working team in all of Indiana. I work hard in all of my sports and my coaches have told me I’m one of the hardest workers they have. Much of my work-ethic has come from swimming. The head coach on our swim team has two things ever on his mind, Hard work and Tradition. Through those two things we achieve much more than normal. It has long been a part of that tradition that we have the hardest working swim team anywhere. I believe I carry that work ethic right over to track and cross country. This will lead me to be a top high school athlete in our area and allow me to continue on into college running. I want to be a valuable athlete in college and get a good career education too. Sports have, and will continue, to teach me a lot of valuable life skills.
