When I was in third grade, my older brother and sister ran on our high school cross country team. Since the first meet I went to, I knew running was for me. Every aspect about the sport fascinated me.
This past year was very succesful for both my team and me. I was able to contribute to our team's first state championship in cross country, and my team finished runner-up in outdoor track and field. Individually, I was All-State in cross country and in multiple events in track. Officially a senior now, I look forward to the best summer of training and certainly the best cross country and track seasons yet.
Unfortunately, I was unable to compete during my sophomore track season due to an Achilles injury. It was hard to watch my team compete knowing that I could not be out there with them. However, I believe my injury gave me a new appreciation for running. I realize that I should never take for granted my ability to run.
Although running is extremely important to me, I see academics as my top priority. In school, I maintain a 4.0 GPA as well as being a member of multiple clubs. These clubs include the National Honor Society (Vice President), Leo Club, Math Team, and Student Government Association (President). I love to learn and am currently at the top of my class.
I would like to attend a college that is competitive in both athletics and academics. I want to be able to compete at my full potential and help make a difference on a highly competitive team. I am a very hard-working athlete and consider myself to be very dedicated to the sport of running. I am very coachable, and I am willing to do whatever it takes to be the best I can be both athletically and academically. I plan to study hard and major in Chemistry (Pre-Med) and attend medical school after my undergraduate studies. I hope through my college experience that I can grow not only as a runner, but also as an individual.
