I began playing tennis when I was ten years old. I competed at first against local players, and then against players from surrounding states as well. When I was twelve I started playing USTA tournaments throughout New England. I had some success, winning several tournaments. Unfortunately, I live in Vermont, which is not close to many tournaments. Even so, I compete as much as I can.
My goal is to play college tennis at a competitive program. I competed on the high school varsity team my freshman and sophomore years. Both years, I reached the state individual final and my team won the state championship. I am about to start my junior season. I have always been either #1 or #2 on the team.
I take academics very seriously and work hard in all of my classes. My high school GPA is 4.1. I always take honors classes and will take 5 AP tests in May. I also scored in the 99th percentile on the PSAT and SAT. In college, I want to study either math, business, or economics.
I practice about six days per week and play tournaments about once per month. I work hard and am receptive to coaching advice, which is why several coaches have said that they love working with me. I am also planning to help coach tennis to younger children this summer.
My goal is to play on a college team that practices frequently and is competitive in its conference and possibly nationally, but does not take up so much time that there is not time for academics. I want the school to be strong academically in the areas I want to study. I look forward to talking to coaches, and eventually, playing college tennis.
