I am a 6'0, 135 lb. senior. I have been on the varsity tennis team since my freshman year and have been Derby High School's number one player since my sophomore year. I usually play #1 singles although I am not limited to singles. In the USTA I have won and placed at many tournaments. During freshman year I took first and second in #1 singles at the only two JV tournaments I played, and I took second in #2 singles at one of the varsity I played in. During sophomore year I didn't place in the top 3 ever although I had a solid record, and I was just shy of qualifying for state (in 6a). My junior year I finished with a 19-18 record. I was all-league finishing 6th. I placed 6th at regionals qualifying for 6a state. I was unable to compete at state because of an injury I acquired the week of. Since then the injury has recovered. There are many things I feel I can offer a team. First I am easy to coach, I listen to my coaches well, and try to learn from what they tell me. Secondly I have an unparalleled determination, I will never roll over and give up, I will fight till my final breath. Thirdly I have goals and I will work hard to acheive them. Lastly I can be a team leader. I am not above working to help others on my team improve. I honestly do not care where the school I go to is located as long as I get to play tennis. I am also open to a large variety of schools. My family has financial need. I currently wish to major in History and/or Medieval and Renaissance Studies. My goal as an athlete is to play at my highest possible caliber, and to play throughout college, and hopefully even play post-college.
