Hello my name is Brantley Stone. Eight years ago, I walked onto a court to learn how to play tennis. I could have never imagined what an immense role in my life playing tennis would be. That very day I knew I wanted to play tennis for the rest of my life. Not only was tennis fun and exciting, but also it has taught me valuable life experiences. At first learning tennis taught me self-discipline and determination. I worked on my skills daily whether it was by myself or with teammates. Through wins and losses, I learned to take not only tennis one point at a time but to live life one day at a time. I had to have the self-discipline to make myself practice at the beginning of my tennis career. Now, to lead a high-school team as captain, I have to have the discipline to lead my team in games and at practice. My determination has gotten me a long way. No matter if I win or lose, I always learn something from every game and practice. Needless to say I am devoted to tennis whether it be for my team or myself. I still continue to work each day to get better and improve. Playing college tennis would not only give me a chance to continue doing what I love, but it would give me a chance to get a college education while doing so. Andre Agassi once said, “The great part about tennis is you can’t run out the clock…as long as we were still playing, I had a chance.” My clock has not run out either. I would be honored to have the chance to continue my education and tennis career.
