Preston Tarry '11 Recruiting Profile

I am 5'11" and weigh 150 lbs, and I live in Readington, NJ. I have swam for club swim teams since I was about 7 years old, and made the varsity swim team during my first year at high school. My YMCA team, Somerset Valley YMCA, won the NJ YMCA State Championships this year. I have a relatively laid-back personality, and am hardly ever stressed out. Whether behind the block at a swim meet, or sitting down to take a final exam, being nervous is one thing that never crosses my mind. I like this trait and feel it describes me best because it makes me different than most of my friends, who will be nervous before a race at states or not confident and worried before a physics test. I am looking for a school that will allow me to continue swimming competitively while gaining an education. The practices and team bonding mean as much to me as the meets themselves. My team here has become like family, and I would like the same in a college team. Geographically, I would like to be somewhat near a ski mountain to continue snowboarding during the winter (does not have to be in a state containing ski mountains). Somewhere like Maryland or California would be fine, but Florida or Arizona would not be. As for majors, I am looking into fields of architecture, engineering, and pre-med. Financial assistance will be necessary, and I am open to all divisions.
