Personal Statement

My athletic dream is to play soccer at the highest college level that I possibly can, be it DI, DII, or DIII. My goals in life are quite simple, first to play soccer in college while attaining a business degree so that I may achieve my goal for working in finance on Wall Street upon graduation. Then ultimately to start my own Hedge Fund.

  • Player Recommendation by Team Coach, Tom Clements: Athletic Ability 9 Leadership 9 Team Player 8 Easy To Work With 10 Playing Ability: Emmett is a tremendous athlete and has all the attributes to be a great goalkeeper. Emmett has a big presence, is strong, agile and has great hand eye coordination. Emmett is also unique in the fact that he can play multiple positions on the outfield to a high level, which is testament to his superior athleticism and technique with the ball at his feet. As a result he is far more advanced in his distribution of the ball than many other goalkeepers I have come across in my 5 years coaching at this level. Although Emmett is only a U17 I felt more than comfortable promoting him to the older age group so he can test himself at a higher level and thus accelerate his development as a player. Personality: Emmett is always one of the first players at practice and has a real hunger and determination to improve as a player. He has a very outgoing personality which is a great attribute and helps him naturally transition to organizing his teammates through constructive communication which I have found to be a rare quality. Emmett also exhibits superior self motivation. Unlike many players he doesn't just work on his performances during practice time, but, rather will work out individually almost every day to try and 'hone' his skill set. Given my experience from coaching and playing division I soccer I believe Emmett has the necessary traits to be a successful collegiate level goalkeeper. Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions.

  • Memo is a U17 US National Goalie Coach. Memo recommendation below: Athletic Ability 8 Leadership 8 Team Player 8 Easy To Work With 8 Playing Ability: Good techniques, good footwork, knowledge of the game, and good teamwork and ethics; I am pleased to say that Emmet has all the above mentioned qualities and has great potential to keep growing in this field. Personality: He is always very motivated and is constantly striving to improve his weaknesses. He is not only a fine player, but is also an outstanding individual. He excels in the classroom and outside of school as well. He understands the value of goal setting and the importance of team work. He realizes that success can only be obtained through hard work and approaching each task with a positive attitude.
  • Kurt Putnam High School Coach Recommendation
  • 3 years
  • Athletic Ability 9 Leadership 9 Team Player 9 Easy To Work With 10 Playing Ability: Emmett has the unusual dimension of being a very accomplished outfield player meaning that he has excellent ball control as a keeper, can make a dead-ball kick upwards of 50 yards thus clearing the half-way line for goal kicks. He takes all of the teams free-kicks inside the defensive 30 yards and punts a ball deep into the opposition's half. Emmett has exceptional reflexes and shot-stopping ability and is able to raise vertically with ease for high balls, free-kicks and corners. Additionally Emmett has great courage and sound decision-making processes for coming off his line to close angles - he does this quickly with balance and poise. Emmett continues to work hard in his game outside of high school and club, working with Memo Valencia (New York Soccer Club GK Coach and current U17 USA GK Coach). Personality: Emmett is a true team player. Last year he played a large portion of the season as a defender while stepping in to fill the keeping spot vacated by two injured seniors towards the latter part of the season with a ratio of 5 games to 2 goals allowed. Emmett has been working hard on his communication and direction when in the net and I think his time spent on the field has served excellent cross-learning benefits for when he enters the net as he gets to experience the game from a multitude of positions, perspectives and angles. Emmett was a natural choice for the 2012-13 captaincy, selected firstly by his returning peers and the coaching staff were unanimous in that choice. He is eager to prove his captaincy and leadership and has already begun to engage the returning players in pre-season fitness get-togethers. Emmett has an unwavering thirst for improvement and never leaves himself short of putting it all out during practices and games.
