Personal Statement
Ever since I was a baby all of my memories are with a soccer ball next to me. As I started to grow both as a student and as a person I realized that playing college soccer would be a once in a lifetime opportunity that could change my whole future.
As a player I consider myself to be very fast, clocking 3.34 seconds in 30mt and someone who is always ready to pounce on any mistake by the defenders. I always try to lead by example and for this reason I was chosen as captain for the JV team (7th and 8th grade) and as a sophomore made captain of the varsity team. Due to my determination to succeed I am always the one who will work the hardest when training and never give up during a game. All my life I have played with people at least three years older than me because of my older brother so this gives me both a physical and psychological advantage upon other player my own age.
Although, soccer is my greatest passion I have not let it stand on the way of my studies. I have always maintained a high GPA and it is all thanks to the way soccer has helped me become an organized person; that is willing to make sacrifices to be the best in what I do.
Thanks to soccer I have become a risk-taker and for that reason at the end of my sophomore year I decided not to enroll in the traditional IB curriculum but instead, opted to join the Innovation Academy. This is a two-year business and entrepreneurship program, which allows students to pursue their passions through a project-, based curriculum. To find out more about the Innovation Academy and what I do you can visit my website: http://sergiopiaggio.weebly.com or the Innovation Academy site: http://www.rooseveltinnovationacademy.com
I want to attend a college where I am not only pushed athletically but most importantly academically, as after all I am a student-athlete; not just an athlete. I want to study business or entrepreneurship and hope to use soccer as a way of becoming a successful professional.
