Personal Statement

I am a hardworking student athlete dedicated to achieving my best both on and off the field. I attend Chadwick School in Palos Verdes, California, where I am the starting varsity goalkeeper. In addition to high school soccer, I play club soccer for California Rush (currently ranked 70th nationally). I have past experience playing for Chivas USA Academy in the USSDA league. Prior to this, I was selected to the ODP summer and winter pools for the 1997 age group.

My first language is German, and I am completely bilingual. From October to November 2014 I spent a month training with top German U-19 sides as part of the American Eagles Project run by coach Mark Dillon. I trained with FC Viktoria Köln of the U-19 Bundesliga (top tier), and VfL Osnabrück of the U-19 Regionalliga (2nd division), among others. These experiences allowed me to refine my playing style, develop a tactical skill set proving me with an edge, and ultimately enable me to understand what it takes to compete at the highest level.

On the field I take the role of a sweeper keeper, similar to Manuel Neuer. I play a high line, which allows me to snuff out through balls before they become threatening. In addition, it allows my team to create more opportunities playing out from the back. To effectively play this role, I have become proficient in reading the game. I am very versatile in playing in different systems. In playing out of the back, I am very confident in my abilities of distributing the ball with both hands and feet. In addition to patient build up, I am also effective in playing a more direct approach. Both physically and vocally, I have a big presence in the back, assertively orchestrating my back line, and commanding my box.

My primary goal is to play collegiate soccer for a school at which I can reach my full potential, both academically, and athletically. In the long term I hope to find opportunities to play professionally either domestically or abroad.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
