Hello, my name is Mason Ginni I am 17 years old and I have been playing competitive soccer for 8 years. I primarily play center back, but I am a versatile player and can excel in any position. I am a junior, class of 2019, at Liberty Ranch High School in Galt, California. I carry a 4.0 GPA and I am a scholar athlete. I am also on the leadership committee which I am very proud of. I stand 5’9" tall and weigh 157lbs. I was voted captain on my varsity soccer team as a freshman, sophomore, and again this current season as a Junior. I am also a captain of my National level club team, Galt FC United 00' boys, where I play for Coach Rudy Rodriguez (as of 12/5/16 we were the #1 ranked u17 team in the country per GotSoccer). September 2017 we were finalists at the NHB(North Huntington Beach) Cup (top flight) losing in PKs. We won the Davis Legacy College Showcase tournament (7-26-17) in the "Super Group" division U19, winning all 6 games. I am currently playing at the highest level possible at the U18 age group which is the "Champions League" Division NPL (National Premier League) which we won the 2016 Championship going undefeated. We found success in winning the 2016 Soccerloco San Diego Surf Cup College Showcase tournament in the U17 Super Group Black division (top flight), 2016 "California Cup" Champions (top flight) and the "2016 NHB Cup" (North Huntington Beach) Showcase (top flight) Champions. I am also a current member of the NorCal Premier State Pool 2000 PDP team. My determination, leadership, and passion for this sport, makes me a fierce competitor and a strong asset to any team.
My freshman year (2015-2016 season) my team reached the CIF Sac Joaquin Section Championship game, which we lost in PKs. That season I was chosen as the Captain of my team. I was named to the Sierra Valley Conference All-league 1st team and was the Liberty Ranch High School Defensive Player of the Year. I also led all freshmen in California (per MaxPreps) in points, scoring 10 goals with 11 assists as a defender which shows I can be an effective attacker as well.
My Sophmore year (2016-2017 season) was also a successful season for me on the high school field. I was chosen again as the Captain of my team which was a great honor. I was also named to the Sierra Valley Conference All-League 1st team and I was awarded the "Defensive player of the year" Liberty Ranch High School.
Some of my more notable accomplishments are earning a position on the NorCal Premier PDP State Pool team (Coach Andrew Ziemer), where I play with the top players in California (team member since 12/2014). In 2015 my club team, Galt FC won the NorCal State Championship (State level division). We also won the 2014 Region 6 (premier) League Championship, Champions Cup, as well as the COPA Cup Championship where I received the MVP award. One of my most significant achievements was when I was invited to guest play for the San Jose Earthquakes (East Valley) by Coach Dana Taylor. With the Earthquakes I won the 2014 San Diego Surf Cup National Showcase Championship (top flight) which is arguably the toughest tournament in the country. I was the center back for all 6 games of that tournament.
2013 was a year of growth and opportunity for me. I was scouted and invited to attend the Market Training Center (US Soccer training center) by Rick Ramos and Hugo Perez. At the MTC I gained a lot of valuable experience training in such a high level soccer environment. The coaches there were world class. Later that year, I attended the Dinamo ID camp in Sacramento, Ca where I was identified and invited to attend a formal trial in Zagreb, Croatia with the GNK Dinamo 2000 Academy team. I spent two weeks in Zagreb, Croatia training alongside outstanding players and being taught by the countries best coaches. I was able to play matches against neighboring countries as well as local Croatian teams. This was an amazing experience as well as a remarkable honor.
My experiences have made me a better competitor, leader, teammate, and most of all, person. Without soccer, and the support of my family, I firmly believe that I would not be who I am today. I believe there is no substitute for hard work and the word “shortcut” does not exist in any of my training. I have given it my all to get to where I am today, and have no intentions to change that. I want to continuously improve my skills and always out work my competition in order to reach my goal of playing soccer in college. My determination is unbridled, and if given the opportunity, I will prove it. I know I will be an asset to any team with my unmatched work ethic and leadership. I am also the captain of my high school tennis team as well, playing varsity all three years.
I am very involved in my church, my community, and especially my family which I feel is the cornerstone of who I am. In addition, I am a member of my high school tennis team as well as an active member of FFA (Future Farmers of America). Working as hard in my academics as on the soccer field is something I enjoy and is crucial for my collegiate future. In my free time I enjoy playing basketball and riding my bike with friends. I hope to coach one of our local recreational youth soccer teams soon as well.
In closing, I appreciate you taking the time to get to know a little about me. I am extremely passionate about soccer and also my studies, as evidenced by my accomplishments. I am eager to expand my knowledge and skills on and off the field. I would welcome the opportunity to showcase the level of player I am and can be. Thank you very much.
Sincerely,
Mason Ginni
