My name is Nolan Strout and it is my goal to play college lacrosse, at the highest level I can. I started to play lacrosse in 5th grade for a rec team; it was the best I had available to me at the time. I played defense until 8th grade when my coach moved me to middie, I also started to face off at this time. Freshman and Sophomore year I weighed 215 pounds and was not nearly as fast as I am now, I made it a personal goal to eat healthier and start working out, and now I am at 185 pounds.
My freshman year was the first year my high school had a lacrosse program. I was our primary face off man while playing two way middie. I was made a captain and named all-conference. Sophomore year I took every face off except for one on senior night, and had a percentage around 76% and was even more of a leader on the field, helping to run the offense. I was again a captain and all-conference player.
The summer after sophomore year I began to play for a travel team in Wilmington, which is a little over an hour away. I made the Elite team and drove to practices 2-3 times a week. For the Cape Fear Shamrocks I mostly FOGO-ed and played defensive middie, being on the mandown unit, but I also had a fair share of offensive shifts. Throughout the summer and fall we went to 8 different tournaments and my face off percentage was around 70%.
I pride myself with my work ethic on and off the field. I am currently number 3 in my class, and without letting my grades slip I always feel upset if a day goes by that I don't at least practice facing off. I push myself to be the best leader and team player that I can be one hundred percent of the time.
