Personal Statement

Hello, I'm here to find a college that suits me and I hope yours can be just that. I'm open to any school that shows interest in me as not only a student-athlete but also as young man. I'm a senior this year and glad to say i was voted captiain for this season by my teammates, including last years seniors. I play close defense and have been selected 1st team all-county for the past two years as well as earning all conference accolades last year participating in the WCAC, a conference that annually sends students to highly recognized athletic and academic institutions. I stand at 6'1" and am pushing 185. I've been hitting the weight room since the summer, because i want this year to be the year we make it back to our conference championship. Everyone thinks we're going to have a down after losing last years class but I'm determined to prove them wrong. This is an asset I'm very proud of in myself, I have always strived to be one of the hardest working players on any team I've been on. I think this also makes me a natural leader. I'm always there pushing everyone to take their game, weight, and fitness to the next level. But I don't just lead by example, I'm extremely vocal, whether it be in practice or calling out defense on the field. I love the game of lacrosse and feel the only way to respect it is to push myself as hard as possible in any drill, practice, or game. And i take a great deal of pride in my ability to not only match up athletically with any opponent, but working hard all game long to take him out of the picture while also backing up the rest of my defense.
My family is also a large aspect in my life, and since I was a baby its been my sisters, my mom, and me. We are all extremely close and my mom loves to watch me play, so I tend to be more interested in schools on the east coast, and mostly in the Mid-Atlantic region of our great country. But I will respond to any interest, and if a school is willing to work for me I will work just as hard to find out if they are a good fit for me and vice versa. But being a single mother and with two already in college, cost is a definite factor. Having said this I have worked hard in the classroom to help with costs, but any scholorships would not be taken lightly.
Heading into college I would like to be apart of a program where I have a legitimate change to play early on. Level is not a huge factor to me, I'm open to any program like I've said before, and I'd love to have the opportunity right away to compete for a competitive program. I feel that coming from a high school program with a Hall of Fame coach, who had a great deal of experience that I'm fully prepared to compete at the collegiate level immediately. I'm not saying that I'm a D1 prodigy or that I deserve anything but a chance to fight for a starting spot.
So, after reading this I hope you've learned a bit more about me as a young man and as an athlete. If you have any questions please contact me, and thank you very much for taking the time to read this.
