Ethan Murphy '16 Recruiting Profile

I did not really get into this great game of golf until the end of my freshman year of high school when I missed the cut on the travel hockey team. I have played on my high school team for the past three years and have been named captain this year. I have achieved that by always pushing myself to the max whether it be on the range, on the practice green, or on the final hole of a big match. My philosophy has always been to lead by example. My teammates have aspired to that philosophy and that really makes me feel like I have been a great leader and role model to them. 

I have always loved to challenge myself. In school this year, I have taken on 3 AP classes and 1 honors class because I feel if I can succeed in these very difficult courses, it will better prepare me for college and the rest of my life. 

I have seen my handicap from 28 to 8 in a single year. That achievement got my name into my home club's newsletter as the most improved player. In the last year it has gone from 8 to 2 which I think is an even bigger leap. I have run into some recent form where I will have a great round and the occasional poor round, but I have always backed that up with another good score. This has lead me to see my game get on the verge of something really great. 

I look forward to attending a school where I can challenge myself and obtain a fantastic education in the classroom, as well as competing in this game that I have come to love at the collegiate level.
