Dave Long '11 Recruiting Profile

Dear Recruiter, I want you to know some things about me as not only an athlete but as a regular guy. I love playing sports and being with friends. I have a strong family base. My parents mean everything to me and I wouldn't be where I am today without all of their help. I am a proud Christian and am not afraid to show it. I give 90% of all of my success to God, 9% to my parents, and 1% to myself. My dad has helped me with my game for as long as I can remember. He was a PGA Teaching Professional for many years and I go to him for any swing adjustments. He was the swing coach for the University of Notre Dame Golf Team (men and women) as well (many years ago!). I am a 6'3", 150 lbs., Senior at Northridge High School in Middlebury, Indiana. I have been sending out recruiting letters and resumes since my freshman year trying to get my name out in the college world early. I have been the captain of my golf team for 2 years, and will remain captain for the remaining year. I am a good leader in the aspect that I drive my team to be the best they can possibly be. I make sure that they know not to get down on themselves when they hit a bad shot and to move on to the next shot and forget the last one. The quote , "One shot at a time", is to me, the most important quote in golf. I want to go to school in the south so that I can play golf all year around as opposed to only being able to play 5 out of the 12 months of the year. I think my golf game will be good enough to compete at the division 1 level but I am open to others that will let me take my game further and allow me to play often in the line up. I want to play Division 1 golf because I want to compete against others just as good, and even better, than me. When I play against talented competitors my game goes to the next level and I preform better. When I am under pressure I tend to turn my game up a few notches. My goal, when talking to other people about my game, is to stay humble and give all of my abilities back to God. Now you know some about me! Hope you've enjoyed, and have a good day.
